"Be happy for this moment. This moment is your life." — Omar Khayyam
There was a period of time that I wasn't interested in happiness, because everything we typically put our happiness in is temporary: marriages and friendships, sentimental items and valuable possessions, coveted careers, and even our very experiences.
All of these things are temporary, so why bother seeking them out if they will only be torn away from us one day? This rather gloomy perspective was certainly born out of my personal experience with loss.
When my fiancée died 3,927 days ago it sent me into such profound grief that I wanted nothing more to do with happiness, and instead I went in search of the eternal so as to never again be swept away by such pain.
Along the way I made some profound discoveries, and perhaps most interesting of all is the discovery that Happiness—fleeting though it may be—is actually a rather worthy pursuit after all.
To hear how I came to this conclusion I encourage you to watch today's Magic Word video.
Until next time, stay positive!
